What Travellers Say

Visitors appreciate the historical significance of Waterford's medieval towers and city walls, noting their extensive nature and the unique experience of seeing them illuminated at night. However, some feel the city could better showcase these historical assets, with limited internal access and some towers being part of modern developments like car parks being noted drawbacks.
"It was fun, to explore and locate the six surviving towers, as well as long stretches of the town wall, as it turns out the largest collection of all Ireland.
We actually were very lucky to be able to visit this tower during the Sam Hain, procession, and performance at the tower
This was the last tower of our exploring being the sixth of the six surviving towers
It was built on a natural rocky outcrop which we could walk up to, then follow the steps down to the base which these days is a car park.
It was fun to seek out the towers, and walls, which we highly recommend time permitting"

"Because of the historical significance of these medieval towers and the remaining wall, it’s worth viewing them, but it’s a shame the city isn’t doing more to showcase these “Waterford Treasures.”
This one is basically a car park. A sign posted says “The ‘project’ is part-financed by European Community”. what project? A car park?
The city should make a buffer zone of park land with a walking trail connecting the medieval wall sections and towers. Remove development and car parks with no historical importance."

"Nice tower to sightsee as part of the medieval city wall. Even with nice lighting in the night."
