Visiting Israel for the first time, what to prioritise?

Besides the obvious places (TLV & JLM), I can recommend Acre for a nice historical old town, Massada for history and great desert landscape and the north for fun hikes (many trails pass through cool ruins).

"A nice park with almost no explanations of the archaeology and history of Akko. Look around if you happen to be there, but do not consider it a main attraction."

Patrick Leiverkus

"I wanted to see if I could get to the top by myself, and I did. It's not all wheelchair accessible. So I parked the chair halfway and schlepped up there. Nice views at the top, of the whole city."

Revabbyjo Ovitsky

"nice views. this is where ancient Akko was 5000-3000 years ago.. before moving to it's current place. not much to see, unless you have a guide with you to tell you about history and archeology of the place..."
