Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the museum's well-preserved cells and impactful dioramas, offering a tangible connection to the past. However, some reviewers note a perceived one-sided historical narrative that focuses heavily on Zionist resistance, potentially overlooking other prisoner groups. Despite this, the affordable entry and historical significance make it a worthwhile visit for many.

"It's a British prison that was turned into a museum , they talk about history back in 1920's and 30's , but act as if only jewish people were imprisoned they neglect the arabs and the palestinans completely, not giving them any history, a museum should not have political agendas and unfortunately this one has, they even give visitors the option to watch a short film about how herioc the jewish prisoners were for killing british officers and resisting, mean while there are 3 famous arab patriots that were hannged as a result of the1929 Palestine riots.
All in all good preservation of the cells, and rooms but other than that you would have to build your own side of the story the moment your step in."

"is an Ottoman fortification, built on the foundation of the Hospitaller citadel. The citadel was part of the city's defensive formation, reinforcing the northern wall. During the 20th century the citadel was used mainly as a prison and as the site for a gallows. During the British mandate period, activists of Jewish Zionist resistance movements were held prisoner there; several were executed there. The Irgun staged a famous prison break against the citadel in May 1947, which is commemorated by a monument nearby. Famous characters like Baha'u'llah and Israel's prime minister Menachem Begin used to be locked there. Today the site is managed by the Ministry of Defense, so bring your passport if you plan to visit."

"Actually it is one of most intriguing things i see in acre lately. In fact i didn't know about it. Somehow there is no advertising of this place. The place is former British prison where many zionist were prosecuted. Prison is upper floors of crusader castle so it is builded in very interesting way. Entrance is actually very cheap only 15 shekels."
