Manage Expectations: It's Not a Traditional Agriturismo

While advertised as an agriturismo, reviews suggest it functions more like a motel. Don't expect extensive farm interaction or local produce. The highway noise can be noticeable, impacting the 'quiet surroundings' expectation. Reddit

Hospitality Varies: Be Prepared for Minimal Interaction

Some guests report ambivalent or minimal host interaction, contrasting with the warm hospitality expected from a B&B. If you seek a highly personal experience, this might not be the best fit. Reddit

Reviews Summary

Reviews for Castelliere di Slivia are mixed, with guests appreciating the clean, spacious rooms and convenient location for exploring the Trieste coast. However, many are disappointed by the lack of traditional agriturismo experience, minimal host interaction, and noticeable highway noise. The basic breakfast and strict booking policies also detract from the overall experience for some. Reddit

"We had other expectations of the place than what was offered. We expected an agriturismo B&B with quiet surroundings and warm hospitality, where you could experience local produce and activities.

The highway is noticeable which made it difficult to fully relax and the owner was ambivalent towards us as guests, with absolute minimal interaction. There were visitors coming to see the caves which further made it feel like the B&B and any staying guests were just secondary.

When we arrived the host just said “Hello” and then showed us our room. That was the most interaction we had. It would have been helpful to get some guidance regarding the area, information about the farm, his dog, whatever, just something more than only “Hello here’s your room bye”.

The rooms were very clean and spacious with beds that could use an upgrade (felt the hard springs in some places of the bed). It’s ok for the price but we would’ve hoped for warmer hospitality and better description of the surroundings, in particular the highway. It felt more like a motel than a B&B. We meant to stay 5 nights, but ended up only staying 2 nights as we didn’t want to continue our vacation there (we paid for all 5 nights). Upon checkout, we found it odd that the host was not at all curious as to why we only stayed 2 nights but instead just said “ok”.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who is looking to enjoy an “agriturismo” B&B. There’s no interaction with the farm, at all. There were no local produce offered at this accommodation. No information about what they do. It’s only a house that might’ve been a farm once where you sleep in a regular room. Pictures on Google maps hint that there might be some meats and products from the area offered, but they had nothing. The breakfast consisted of a brioche, a piece of bread, Nutella, coffee and multivitamin juice from the store."
