What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Porta Guelfa offers a charming country lodging experience with a highly praised, friendly host and beautiful natural surroundings, including a pool and large garden ideal for pets. While many guests enjoy the spacious, homey suites and the tranquil atmosphere, some reviews mention the need for property updates and occasional cleanliness concerns. Overall, it's a good option for families and pet owners seeking a relaxed Italian countryside escape.
"A pleasant residence that needs updating. The apartment is a nice size and probably best for a family. Bed was very comfortable .Breakfast needs improvement-they serve you in your room so choice is limited. We were there in late May and the pool was closed. Did not appear to have spa"

"In a word? Marvelous. We were here for a week during our honeymoon after a week in Levanto. Staying in Bevagna was genuinely one of the most impactful weeks travelling I've experienced. As for RPG, the host was terrific, warm, kind, helpful and generous. We loved our villa, the pool, breakfasts, olive trees, sunsets, sunrises... a wonderful spot we'll recommend and visit again if in Bevagna."

"No way a 3-star hotel!
The young man who greeted us upon arrival offered us "the best room" since they had no other guests. Once in the room we were greeted by a loud barking dogs next door, discovered a filthy couch, stains and spots on the bedspread, a bug (silverfish) in the bed along with a hair, and we were surprised by a large spider on the window covering. After calling the employee he came by to observe and immediately offered us another room, which we were again told "was the best room in the hotel."
We moved rooms only to discover the walls were stained, the shower was broken, the toilet paper holder was missing, the cloth in the kitchen was filthy, another big spider and web in the ceiling corner, and the dogs still barking next door.
We had no other option but to stay the night. We checked out the next morning and had to walk away from 3-night's fee since we paid in advance and their cancellation policy is non-existent. See photos!"
