What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Castel Beseno, calling it a 'jewel' with breathtaking views and an impressive medieval atmosphere. The interactive knight demonstrations and activities are a major highlight, especially for families. While parking can be a challenge, the affordable entry and friendly staff make it a highly recommended and enjoyable visit.
"Fantastic! Bravo to the restorers who put this together. There is so much of the castle to explore and enjoy and so many places with amazing panoramic views of the valleys in all directions! 7€ per ticket, 5€ for discount is a great deal for as much of this magnificent place as you get to experience at your own pace. Many, many displays of armor, arms, the surrounding history and relative location compared to the plethora of other castles in the close vicinity and how they together. Thank goodness this gem was handed over and the crew who have been working its restoration since the 1970's has done such a great job and opened so much of it up for people to enjoy!
The staff throughout were great! Friendly, helpful, and attentive.
There is a "cafe" before the first history video on the way in that has vending machine for drinks and a couple snacks options and a coffee machine.
There's also a bar, with a decent amount of options, including fresh coffee and drinks, juice, ice cream, water, beer and I'm not sure what else. Lots of great scenic seating options while you enjoy your choice.
There is a seperate, free water closet that seems to be pretty decently maintained.
Only complaint, the parking lot could use a few of the holes filled in, its a little rough for a car, but not impassable."

"I saw this castle on my way from Munich to Bologna. Saved it in my favorites. Finally got a chance to visit.
Cool place with such a cool history. Dog friendly but inside the museum rooms you will have to pick your dog up. You can see armors, spears, guns and many more. They will let you try the armor on.
Such a cool place."

"What a jewel to visit. You can easily spend 3- hours (or more!) here. We arrived just in time for the knight's demo (mind: it's all in Italian, but entertaining even if you don't understand). We got to take photos with knight's armour, do crossbow shooting (arrows with rubber tips, so perfectly safe for kids) and do a mini knight's training course. It's very affordable (we paid €14 for 2 adults and one 5 year-old). The people working there are extremely friendly and eager to explain things. We had a very enjoyable afternoon.
I would recommend to come as early as possible to be able to park at the castle's official parking lot. We arrived around midday, and parked in the village below. It's a rather challenging climb up to the castle from there, especially on hot days."
