What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Merano Old Town is widely praised for its beauty, cleanliness, and charming medieval architecture, particularly its arcades and scenic promenades. Visitors enjoy the blend of Italian and Austrian culture, the pleasant atmosphere, and the variety of shops and cafes. However, a significant concern raised is the high rate of vehicle break-ins, which detracts from the overall positive experience for some.
"Beautifull city in südtirol 👍👍👍"

"The Merano Town Hall, located on Via dei Portici, was built in the 1930s in Rationalist style, on the site of a previous building dating back to the Habsburg period.
Its linear forms contrast sharply with those of the nearby medieval buildings.
Its clock tower is particularly noteworthy."

"Merano is generally a wonderful place.
However, given the high rate of burglaries in parked vehicles, it would be nice if the municipality of Merano launched an awareness campaign about this... According to the police, to whom we filed a report as victims, the windows of approximately 100 vehicles are smashed every day to steal items. According to the repair shop we chose, a two-euro coin left open is often enough for the thieves. In our case, three minutes of parking was enough for the burglars.
It would certainly be good if the municipality would raise awareness about this via social media, posters at gas stations or hotels, and at relevant sights and tourist destinations.
It seems to be a real problem that needs to be addressed. And in the long run, it damages the reputation of this beautiful city."
