However, given the high rate of burglaries in parked vehicles, it would be nice if the municipality of Merano launched an awareness campaign about this... According to the police, to whom we filed a report as victims, the windows of approximately 100 vehicles are smashed every day to steal items. According to the repair shop we chose, a two-euro coin left open is often enough for the thieves. In our case, three minutes of parking was enough for the burglars.
It would certainly be good if the municipality would raise awareness about this via social media, posters at gas stations or hotels, and at relevant sights and tourist destinations.
It seems to be a real problem that needs to be addressed. And in the long run, it damages the reputation of this beautiful city."
