Reviews Summary

Reviews for 'Il Duomo' (likely a boutique, not the piazza) are highly polarized. Some customers report exceptional experiences with fast shipping and great discounts on luxury items. However, a significant number of negative reviews cite issues with receiving damaged or used goods, poor customer service, and a lack of response to inquiries, leading to frustration and distrust.

"They sold me a show room products and accused me wearing it since one shoe has a lot of creases and wrinkles upon arrival an another shoe is perfectly smooth. Now, they blocked me on Instagram since I left a bad comment. Their customer service never reply me after accusation of me. No reply, no solution, no compensation. Report this store to Italy and your country’s Consumer Protection Agency if you had similar bad experience, ask them to take down their site. The picture below was took one day after I received the product, only right shoe has creases as shown, the left shoe is perfect. It is a store display shoes used for in-store customer to try on and they sell it as “brand new”."

"I cannot be more satisfied with Il Duomo.
I was looking for a pair of Alexandre vauthier mules pink... a specific model. I couldn’t find my size 40. I ended up on Il Duomo. Literally in 5 days it was shipped “carefully” from Italy to Belgium.
Do not hesitate. Right model Right size it was just perfect! So so so grateful
And on top of that i had a very good discount! Just go for it. Do not hesitate!!!! And thank you Il Duomo. I ll buy with you again xx"

"I am very very disappointed in Il Duomo. I ordered from them and then they sent me a bag with scratches all over it. It looked like a used bag or a display bag with the way it was sent.. which is ridiculous because i spent a good amount of money on it. I sent them an email as soon as i received it with pictures, i haven’t heard a word from them since. Their lack of proper communication baffles me. I will not be returning the item i ordered because judging from the reviews on here, i won’t be receiving my money back so therefore, i won’t be ordering from them again. You don’t send a $2K bag with tons of scratches and without the right packaging."

For Different Travelers

Tailored advice for your travel style

👨‍👩‍👧 Families with Kids

Piazza Duomo can be an exciting place for families, though the climbs might be challenging for very young children. The Battistero di San Giovanni with its ornate doors is often a hit, and the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo provides a more contained environment to see impressive sculptures. Reddit

For the climbs, assess your children's stamina. The Giotto's Campanile offers slightly wider stairs than the Dome, which might be easier. Pack plenty of snacks and water, and consider a gelato break in the piazza to keep energy levels up. Focus on the visual spectacle and the stories behind the art to keep kids engaged. Reddit

💰 Budget Travelers

While the Duomo complex has an entry fee, simply experiencing Piazza Duomo itself is free and offers incredible sights. You can admire the exterior of the Cathedral, Baptistery, and Campanile from the outside. Reddit

To save money on food, avoid the restaurants directly on the piazza. Instead, explore the side streets for more affordable trattorias and paninoteche (sandwich shops). Look for 'menu fisso' (fixed price menu) options for lunch. Bringing your own water bottle and refilling it at public fountains can also help cut costs. Reddit

❤️ Couples

Piazza Duomo offers a romantic backdrop, especially during the golden hour. Consider climbing Giotto's Campanile at sunset for breathtaking views together. Reddit

After exploring the monuments, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the surrounding streets and find a charming trattoria for a romantic dinner. Sharing a gelato while people-watching in the piazza is also a simple yet delightful experience. The atmosphere of Piazza Duomo at dusk is truly magical. Reddit

Climbing Brunelleschi's Dome

The climb to the top of Brunelleschi's Dome is a highlight for many visitors to Piazza Duomo. It's a challenging ascent of 463 steps, so be prepared for a strenuous workout. The narrow, winding staircases and the experience of walking inside the dome's structure are truly unique. Reddit

The Florence Cathedral (Santa Maria del Fiore) itself is a marvel, with its stunning facade and vast interior. Inside, you can admire Vasari's frescoes on the dome's interior. Reddit

Adjacent to the Cathedral is Giotto's Campanile, the bell tower, which offers another fantastic climbing opportunity with slightly different, but equally spectacular, views. This pass is excellent value and allows you to fully immerse yourself in the history and art of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Planning your visits to each monument within the validity period of your ticket is key to maximizing your experience. Reddit

Piazza Duomo Photography Tips

Capturing the grandeur of Piazza Duomo requires a bit of strategy. For that classic shot of the Duomo with Giotto's Campanile, position yourself across the piazza, perhaps near the Loggia del Bigallo. The early morning light is your best friend here, offering soft illumination and fewer people to photobomb your shots. Reddit

When climbing the Dome or Campanile, be prepared for tight spaces and a constant flow of people. Focus on capturing the architectural details and the sweeping cityscapes. Wide-angle lenses are excellent for the expansive views, but don't forget to zoom in on specific landmarks.
