Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Stanze al Genio Tile Museum as a unique and enchanting hidden gem in Palermo. The extensive collection of hand-painted majolica tiles, combined with beautiful frescoes and the charming presence of resident cats, creates a memorable experience. The guided tours are highlighted as informative and passionate, making it a highly recommended visit for art and history lovers.
"I am so glad that I made time to visit the tile museum while staying in Palermo. It was unique and enchanting. The guide gave the visitors an overview of the history and content of the collection and answered questions. Following, you can stay as long as you like to enjoy the beauty of the collection. The apartment is located in central Palermo and I found it easily using Google Maps. Being a private apartment in a residential setting, the sights and sounds of the Sicilian summer afternoon wafted in while I enjoyed drifting from room to room, examining the tile collection, the frescoes, and the owner’s other collections, all beautifully curated and displayed. The owner’s four cats lazed around the home and enjoyed the attention of the visitors. I spent about an hour. I came as a walk-in, but it probably would have been better to buy a ticket ahead of time so the guide can expect you at a certain time. Price of the ticket was very reasonable. I highly recommend this museum to any lovers of design, ceramics, and the decorative arts! Bravo!"

"What a hidden gem!! Couldn’t recommend this private collection of colourful art & history. Tucked away in a historical residential building, you enter the owner’s house to admire his vast and beautiful collection of tiles dating back from the 1400s. Each tile hand painted and telling the story and transformation of colours and techniques over time in southern Italy. The guided tour was perfect, offered both in English and Italian, and afterward you can take your time to enjoy the space and art at your own pace. A unique corner of the city ❤️"
