What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Arechi Castle is lauded for its spectacular panoramic views of Salerno and the sea, offering a free exploration of its historic ramparts. While the castle's setting and history are impressive, some visitors note that the museum's maintenance and exhibits could be improved, and services can be limited.
"The castle and museum are pretty small, but the view is spectacular! It's a fun little activity to do if you are in Salerno. You can access the castle for free, but you must pay 6€ to access the museum (and the bathroom). We took the bus 19 from the center of the town and it was 15 minutes late like many buses in Italy. However, to come back, the 19 was 4 minutes early! So be careful if you are visiting by bus and calculate your journey because the bus passes hourly."

"Incredible views of Salerno and the port from here. The history of this structure is fascinating; built around 300 AD and was the site of many battles as different tribes took control of the area. Well worth a visit. A 6 Euro fee is collected upon arrival at the castle. Bus #19 drops you right in front and picks you back up.

"It was very pretty, but the museum was lacking. Some coins were missing and the maintenance of the museum seems to have slipped a bit. The experience would have been significantly enhanced with some sort of tour guide. This as well as the restraunt and bar was closed. All in all the experience was nice, and we learnt a lot, the museum just needed some work."
