What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the hike to the Basilica di Sant'Eustachio challenging but rewarding, with spectacular views being the main highlight. While the ruins themselves are modest and the visit brief, the experience is enhanced by the dedicated caretaker and the sense of accomplishment. Some suggest similar views can be found elsewhere in Scala, making it a worthwhile stop if time permits.
"The ruins of the Basilica are a nice thing to see but this is far from being a must. You will find some information at the entrance but that’s it. The visit will not take you longer than 10 minutes.
The view is nice but you can have similar views from Scala.
If you have the time, have a stop there, otherwise, pass your way."

"Closed when I visited but not regretting the hike. A ton of stairs, a very clear road, very nice views. Follow the signs and the red-white markings and you'll be fine."

"1400 steps up, 92 floors elevation. Took 50 minutes from marina, stopping for pictures. It’s a solid climb. Please take a small donation for the beautiful lady at the ruins who caretakes it. She offered a lemon Lolly and opened the bathrooms when I arrived because I’d climbed up from the marina. Views from up there are spectacular and the ruins are well worth the climb. Highly recommend it."
