What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are captivated by the breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Maggiore and the unique setting of the hermitage perched on a cliff. The historical frescoes and architecture are also appreciated. However, some find the €5 entrance fee steep for what is offered, and issues with the elevator's functionality and extra charges can be frustrating.
"Not worth the 5€ honestly. There's nothing to see except the beautiful panorama which should be free anyway. If you want to take the elevator back up and not do the 100 stairs, you need to pay extra and if you arrived at the elevator, since the machine that sells the tickets is broken, you have to go back to the church and buy from the lady in the shop. This really annoyed us, so we took the stairs."

"It was a nice sightseeing place, photogenic. You can also opt to take the evaluator up and down instead of taking the stairs."

"The visit of santa Caterina was a bit underwhelming for me, but with great views. Boat tickets were fairly cheap circa 7€ adult and 5€ senior. The boat trip was 5-10 minutes and the boats depart pretty often with clearly stated times. Unfortunately we forgot to establish our returning time and closely missed our trip back to Stresa and there was a lunch break and we had to wait for the next boat for 2 hours.
Overall, great, just plan when you want to board."
