Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Acropoli di Sant'Antioco historically significant, offering a glimpse into ancient life, though access and organization can be challenging. While the combined ticket provides good value and guided tours are highly recommended for understanding the site, some guests have experienced issues with tour availability and site accessibility.

"Very badly organized. We were supposed to visit a hat necropolis and then the acropolis as suggested. The lady told us after we finish the necropolis visit the o come and find her to “open” for us the acropolis. When we did that her response was we need to wait “a little” as a large group has just arrived. And she will come in “a bit”. We were puzzles as we realized she started a tour!! After 20(!!!) mins of waiting we left. We found it very unprofessional!"

"ACROPOLIS ☺️ Why it's interesting to visit ☺️ 1) Of ancient Sulky, much of the immense "city of the dead" consisting of the Necropolis, Catacombs, Hypogeum Village, and Tophet can be visited, but very little of the "city of the living." In fact, the current city is superimposed on the ancient one, and the only part of that ancient civil and social life that emerges is this Acropolis, besides the Roman Fountain (I hope it will be properly enhanced in the future!!) and the remains of the Roman bridge. 2) At the Museum, you'll see the two splendid lions that were found here, and it's wonderful to understand where they stood and imagine how they might have adorned this place. In this regard, it would be wonderful to have a couple of replicas of these lions on site, even in whitewashed concrete like the iconic columns of Tharros, not only to enrich the context but also, and above all, to help us better understand what this place might have been. 3) It's not true that simply "looking from the outside" is enough. What remains of the ancient acropolis is by no means immediately or easily understood. A "peek" from the outside is in no way equivalent to understanding the stratification and different eras of the finds, which can only be acquired with the indispensable help of a guide. Without an understanding of a place, even a "peek" makes no sense. 4) The visit to the Acropolis is included in the €5 ticket to the Necropolis. You don't buy a separate ticket, and the ticket also includes a guided tour, which is not only useful, but in my opinion indispensable for these two sites. 5) The Acropolis and Necropolis are part of the Archeotour, so you can purchase a combined ticket for €10 for the five sites. To visit them all, plan on at least two hours; last entry to the sites is one hour before closing. Be careful: if you want to take guided tours, check carefully if and how they run, as we haven't had experience with a very efficient organization. The Archaeological Museum + Tophet can be combined for €7, essentially covering everything for €17. The only exceptions are the fascinating Catacombs, which can be visited via the Cathedral."

"Apparently, the Acropolis can only be visited by larger groups on a booked tour. At least, that's how we understood it.

Ultimately, the area seems very small. The photos are taken from the outside (exterior view). Theoretically, there shouldn't be much more to see.

We were here during Ferragosto 2023."
