What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Piazza Garibaldi Belvedere is a location that elicits mixed reactions, primarily centered around the Arnaldo Pomodoro sculpture, which some find jarring while others appreciate its artistic intent. The panoramic views, however, are consistently praised, especially during sunset, making it a popular spot for visitors seeking scenic beauty and a taste of local life with nearby dining options.
"I added it and I confirm it. A divisive sculpture (branded as Pomodoro's Arch, as if to identify it as a choice of its creator) that should represent an example of the redevelopment of the square but which in fact clashes with the entire urban context. The work itself would even be beautiful (the artist's influence is strong and the style of the more famous spheres in the Vatican or the Farnesina is recognizable), but in my opinion it doesn't find a suitable location, constituting an element of disruption rather than reconciliation. Is it supposed to represent a crisscrossing of jets of water between the two square bases or a stylization of the gate on the defensive walls demolished in this location? From a construction standpoint, it's not bad, but it seems placed here and not made for this location, nullifying all the symbolism associated with it... and certainly the rides and stalls all around don't help enhance the whole thing. Look at the photos and videos I posted and the other reviews I've done on Tivoli and Rome, and if I've been helpful, please leave a like."

"The sculpture in Piazza Garibaldi in Tivoli is not a tomato, but the Arch of the Founding Fathers, a 7-meter-high bronze and steel work created by Arnaldo Pomodoro and inaugurated in 2009. The arch, which has attracted mixed reviews, was conceived as an element of continuity and transition between the Bleso amphitheater and Villa d'Este, and as a symbol of dialogue between the eras."
