What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Chiesa di San Domenico are mixed, often highlighting its historical and artistic significance but frequently noting closures due to ongoing restoration. While some locations boast unique Baroque art and royal tombs, others are described as being in a state of disrepair, impacting the visitor experience.
"Every time I've visited Trani, I've found this church closed, both on holidays and weekdays. The church is located near Trani's large park and is often fenced off outside, but overall, it's in good condition. It needs to be revisited. Two stars for now."
Andrea R.
"That of San Domenico is an 18th century church, among the most characteristic in Trani and of considerable importance from a historical and artistic point of view, preserving within it several works created even before its construction. Unfortunately, following the 2019 earthquake, the structure suffered collapses, causing damage both internally and externally. It appears to be currently under restoration, but, apart from the safety works, nothing has ever happened. The outside is cordoned off and the church is to all intents and purposes in a state of semi-abandonment."
Vincenzo Caruso
"The church appears to be undergoing restoration work, the reason for which is not stated anywhere, nor its estimated duration, which obviously does not bode well."
