"Peaceful atmosphere, and great mass"
Christelle Saliby
"Every time you enter a church, you hold your breath for a few seconds and immerse yourself in the mystical religious aura of the place.
Even on this occasion, visiting the church of San Francesco in Urbino, the traveler, after lingering for a few seconds to admire the architectural beauty of the portico, activated the power of his visual gaze to capture the preciousness of the interior.
And there were precious things, starting with the architectural structure, which, although dissimilar from the Romanesque style of the exterior, retains its own intimate classicism.
The interior is adorned with works of art of exceptional artistic value, such as Barocci's magnificent canvas depicting the Pardon of Assisi and Nelli da Gubbio's equally splendid panel depicting an intense Madonna and Child, as well as Maggeri's beautiful 17th-century altarpiece depicting the Holy Trinity and Saints, and other paintings by artists who are now unknown but were renowned when commissioned.
In a chapel in the left transept, you can admire a moving and moving sandstone sculptural group depicting the Pietà, with the Madonna, Mary Magdalene, and Saint John the Baptist supporting the body of the dead Christ on their laps.
The emotion never fades, even when leaving the church, and this is the strength and power contained in these sacred places."
