What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
This picturesque station boasts beautiful Liberty-style architecture and stunning views of the sea and Mount Etna. However, travelers often report significant disorganization and frustration with bus services, including ticket sales and unpredictable departures. Limited amenities and potential platform changes also add to the challenges.
"A charming and picturesque station with stunning views of the sea and Mount Etna. The architecture reflects traditional Sicilian style, with beautiful tilework and an old-world ambiance that makes arriving here feel like stepping back in time.
While the station is beautiful, travelers should be alert—platform changes happen often and with little notice. Keep a close eye on the departure screens and listen for announcements to avoid confusion.
A scenic gem with a touch of unpredictability."

"If you need to take a bus from this station, be prepared for chaos. Bus tickets aren’t sold at a machine, but by a woman standing on the street — and she spent most of her time talking on the phone while a line of people waited. She ignored everyone for a while, then finally sold tickets, saying the bus would arrive in 10 minutes. It didn’t.
She disappeared after that, and no one could get any information. When a bus eventually arrived, it was already full and didn’t let anyone on. We had to wait again, with no idea if another would come. Finally, after about 45 minutes, another bus came but could only take 7–8 people. The rest were left behind once more.
The station itself is an old building with a beautiful interior, but the overall experience — especially for bus travelers — was incredibly frustrating and disorganized."

"Once you arrive to Taormina-Giardini station outside is a small main road. You can find a bus to city centre or if you turn right and walk towards than on the left-hand side there is a trail sign and you can walk all the way up to the top of Taormina which is taking you around 20-30 minutes. Very steep small road but its worth it."

Navigating Bus Travel from Taormina-Giardini
If you plan to use the bus, arrive with ample time before your intended departure. Consider having a backup plan, such as the walk to Taormina town or pre-arranging a taxi, in case the bus service proves too unreliable for your schedule. The lack of clear information and organization can make this part of your journey stressful.
Despite these challenges, the bus is a primary connection to Taormina town for many visitors arriving by train. Understanding these potential difficulties beforehand can help manage expectations and make the experience more bearable.
The Charm and Challenges of the Station's Architecture
Beyond its visual appeal, the station offers stunning panoramic views of the sparkling sea and the imposing silhouette of Mount Etna. This scenic backdrop adds to the station's allure, making it a pleasant place to spend a short amount of time, provided you're not caught in the midst of bus-related chaos.
However, the station's charm is somewhat diminished by a lack of essential amenities. Travelers have noted the absence of readily accessible toilets and cafes, which can be inconvenient, especially for those with longer waits or traveling with family. While the station itself is a visual treat, practical considerations are important for a smooth visit.
Connecting to Taormina Town: Walk, Taxi, or Cable Car
For a quicker but more expensive alternative, taxis are available outside the station. However, be prepared for high fares; a short 5-minute journey to the center can cost around €20. This is a convenient option if you're short on time or prefer not to walk uphill.
Another notable connection, though not directly to the town center, is the cable car to Mazzarò beach. This offers a delightful and scenic way to reach the coastal area, providing a different perspective of the region's beauty. This is ideal if your destination is the beach or if you want to experience a different mode of transport.
