walk from taormina giardini with stroller

Hi! We are planning to go to Taormina by train (we are staying a bit outside of Catania). Can we just walk from the trainstation to Corso Umberto etc? We will be taking a stroller for our baby so stairs won‘t work for us. Or is it easier to go by car? Ideally we would like to…

Taormina advice : Walking from Isola Bella to Taormina-Giardini train station safely?

It’s walkable, but personally I wouldn’t want to walk along that road, especially at night. There is no sidewalk or shoulder and people tend to drive fast. If it were me, I’d take the bus from Mazzaro back to Catania instead of the train

Reviews Summary

This picturesque station boasts beautiful Liberty-style architecture and stunning views of the sea and Mount Etna. However, travelers often report significant disorganization and frustration with bus services, including ticket sales and unpredictable departures. Limited amenities and potential platform changes also add to the challenges.

"A charming and picturesque station with stunning views of the sea and Mount Etna. The architecture reflects traditional Sicilian style, with beautiful tilework and an old-world ambiance that makes arriving here feel like stepping back in time.

While the station is beautiful, travelers should be alert—platform changes happen often and with little notice. Keep a close eye on the departure screens and listen for announcements to avoid confusion.

A scenic gem with a touch of unpredictability."

MD. Razaul Hossain

"If you need to take a bus from this station, be prepared for chaos. Bus tickets aren’t sold at a machine, but by a woman standing on the street — and she spent most of her time talking on the phone while a line of people waited. She ignored everyone for a while, then finally sold tickets, saying the bus would arrive in 10 minutes. It didn’t.

She disappeared after that, and no one could get any information. When a bus eventually arrived, it was already full and didn’t let anyone on. We had to wait again, with no idea if another would come. Finally, after about 45 minutes, another bus came but could only take 7–8 people. The rest were left behind once more.

The station itself is an old building with a beautiful interior, but the overall experience — especially for bus travelers — was incredibly frustrating and disorganized."

Nida özeçoğlu

"Once you arrive to Taormina-Giardini station outside is a small main road. You can find a bus to city centre or if you turn right and walk towards than on the left-hand side there is a trail sign and you can walk all the way up to the top of Taormina which is taking you around 20-30 minutes. Very steep small road but its worth it."
