What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors have mixed feelings about Negril Hills Golf Club. While the friendly and helpful caddies are a consistent highlight, the course conditions, particularly the greens, often fall short of expectations. The hilly terrain presents a unique challenge, but the lack of advertised amenities and the accumulation of extra costs can be a drawback for some.
"Greens weren’t the greatest as the other reviews said. We wanted to do 18 holes but its was way to hot coming from a North Dakota winter. We had Roger and Ryan as caddies and they were phenomenal. All in all we had a great time. I’d do it again. Thanks Roger and Ryan"
Kevin Burton
"I've played a lot of golf courses and this is definitely one of the worst. The greens were horrible- mostly dirt/mud. Sometimes you even had patches of rough to putt through. We quit keeping score after 3 holes because the greens were so bad. It is very hilly.
The website mentions an "intimate clubhouse with full service restaurant and dining facilities". We saw none of that. When we got done, I asked the caddy about getting a drink in the bar, he just pointed to the drink cooler in the pro shop. It appeared that was the only thing open (this was at noon).
I would NEVER play this course again. The only "positive" I could say is that it is a course I will never forget."

"This golf course is probably right on par with your rural public course back home. The rough is super thick, and the greens are very fluffy. Overall, I give the actual course conditions a 5/10.
The rental clubs were just fine. They have different sets ranging from $20 to $50 to rent. The $50 sets were Callaway brand. The $20 looked pretty rough. We went with a $30 set, and it was just fine. Maybe 12 years old, but good condition. The grips could use re-doing, but not terrible.
You have to buy balls, tees, gloves, and anything else individually. There was also a kid selling extra balls out on the course. The balls are entirely mixed - some random Pro V1’s, and some Noodles, and everything in between.
We paid about $80 total for 9 holes (including the Couples discount, a cart, 8 balls, rental clubs, tees, and a few beers). They have a cooler with ice for the beer, and they have a few small snacks for sale. It was very slow when we played, so they did bring more beer out to us on the course.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would give the service 10/10. They accidentally charged us more because we did not present our Couples ticket, but they were quick to refund the amount back to our cards. They were very helpful about getting the van back on time and showing us around. The caddie was friendly as well. She was more of a guide than a caddie, basically shepherding us through each hole with generic guidance like “we are 65 yards away”. But, she would joke around with us and hunt down errant shots. We tipped about 20%.
Overall, if you are looking to play a quick 9 after several days at the pool, this is a good spot. We had a wonderful time, and it didn’t take the whole day away. Don’t expect a fancy, country club level service, and don’t expect fast greens or short fairway grass. However, the experience was fun enough (and we got 2 birdies between us)!"
