What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mubarak Mandi Palace is lauded for its stunning architectural blend and the rich historical insights offered by the Dogra Museum. Visitors appreciate the glimpse into Jammu's royal past and the intricate details of the palace. However, some express disappointment over the ongoing restoration work and the state of disrepair in certain sections, which can limit full exploration.
"Mubarak Mandi Palace complex offers a glimpse of the city of Jammu, and the grandeur of it. Built on the banks of River Tawi, it was established by Raja Dhruv Dev, in 18th century. Being the seat of the Dogra empire, it was intricately developed into an exquisite display of wealth and art. Originally housed 25 buildings, now only 22 remains 3 of them are totally destroyed or fell due to neglect by govt. Comprises of the palatial buildings of Raja Ram Singh, Amar Singh, the main Army headquarters, Pink hall, Zenana and Mardana palatial complex, including the Rani Bandrali and Rani Charak's Mahal, are such a delight to experience. Presently the army headquarters house the Dogra exhibition, displaying the artifacts, Hand carved and painted doors, Gagar's and other utensils, numistamic coins found in Jammu right from kushan period till the post independence period, local Duggar and tribal jewellery, basohli and Jammu school paintings, arms used back in the time, along with the captured guns, and ShahJehan's bow. Currently most of the buildings are under restoration and it is being converted into a heritage hotel by the. It also pains my heart to see how it was deliberately ignored post independence to shatter the Dogra pride, consequently not many know if it or have visited it in Jammu itself."
