"In July 2024, I rode my motorcycle from the Saku side to the Chino side.
It was quite easy to ride up to Mugisawa Pass, and since the pass is over 2,100m above sea level, it was cool and comfortable even during the day in summer.
The villa area of Tateshina on the Chino side is not a section I would really want to ride on my motorcycle, as the pavement is bumpy and there are a series of sharp turns. Is it because there are villas and there is a certain amount of vehicular traffic that it is in disrepair? Is it because it is difficult for the government to maintain it due to the boundaries with private land?
There were also many abandoned and dilapidated (former) villas, and I wondered while riding that in the future, Japan's regional infrastructure will probably not be able to be maintained at the same level as it was in the late Showa period to the early Heisei period... I was thinking about such social issues."

The road surface is uneven and bumpy, somewhat unbecoming of the name Fairy Tale Highway. There are a few narrow roads east of the Forest of Spirits. There's also a villa-like building at the eastern entrance to Fairy Tale Highway... I wish the road surface could be improved a bit more. 🚙😢
The road west of the observation deck is a little better, though."
