What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the stunning, tranquil atmosphere and the architectural brilliance of Tadao Ando's design, particularly the iconic wooden archway. While some find the exhibits minimal and certain grounds areas less maintained, the overall experience of the building integrated with nature is considered magical and a must-visit, especially during autumn.
"First time to see this unique building by Tadao Ando.
The condition is older than I thought and unused at many studios. The path to some art piece is full of fallen trees. A bit disappointed on that.
The building itself is great and the concept of the inside and outside is poetic. With the dramatic wooden
mesh arch hallway towards the main building is stunning. The whole building surrounded by the nature and landscape with the unmelted snow is like a touch in the picture."

"Absolutely beautiful!! One of the most aesthetically pleasing entrances to a museum I've ever experienced.
Not the easiest or most convenient museum in Japan and the time of year may change your opinion/perspective on it, but in autumn it's amazing.
While the exhibits are on the minimal side and I'd use the word 'museum' quite loosely, the act of walking around the grounds is magical and holistic.
The vibes this place has can't be beaten!
It's free and I'm pretty sure it's an annex of the local university. Makes me wish I was studying there so I could have these views everyday.
If you're in aomori do yourself a favour and visit this museum. You'd be remiss if you didn't"

"A must visit place if you like Master Tadao Ando designed building. It’s local within the university compound. It’s beautiful and tranquil during winter. I believe the feel for other seasons will be as wonderful and different too. No ticket is required and can just walk-in to see the buildings."
