What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Aso Volcano Museum offers educational insights into volcanic activity, with informative videos and panoramic views from its third floor. While some find the exhibits dated and the information primarily in Japanese, visitors appreciate the convenience of parking and the stunning scenery at the nearby Kusasenri grassland.
"500 yen parking for cars... for a location where most things are closed or look pretty rundown.
Save yourself the money, if you don't mind waling a few steps, and park at the viewpoint just above the museum (before the turn) and walk a few steps down.
The views and walks around here are stunning.
Only major disappointment: the volcano access was closed. Why wasn't this announced here? The handwritten sign was obviously wrong. :(
Check the website before you head further up the mountain."

"Fhe museum expositions were mostly in Japanese with old information from 1993. It can be fully skipped with the price of 1300 Yen."

"Nature is amazing but their attitude of handling horses was so terrible! They kept horses in the restriced wood frame for waiting guests for riding. Let them wait freely while waiting. You guys are living thanks to the horses. The horses deserve better treatment with more freedom! So pathetic horses!"
