"Cape Shionomisaki seen from an airplane.
At the left tip is the Shionomisaki Lighthouse.
It was first lit on September 15, 1873, during the Meiji period. For about 150 years since then, it has continued to play a role as a navigational landmark for the safety of ships sailing offshore. This means that the wonderful work of the lighthouse keeper continues to be carried out.
This work was depicted in the 1950s TV drama "Joy and Sorrow: Many Years of Joy and Sorrow" by a lighthouse keeper and his family.
In 2018, it was certified as a "Lighthouse in Love" by the Japan Romanticist Association, and now stands in its white form at Cape Shionomisaki as a Class A preserved lighthouse with high historical and cultural value. If you zoom in on the peninsula at the bottom left of the photo, you can see the white lighthouse. Try to find it."
