DAY 91 of my Walk Around Japan🇯🇵 I visited the 41st-43rd temples of the Shikoku Pilgrimage! The 41st temple, Ryukouji, is located in Anan City, Tokushima Prefecture. A unique feature of this Ryuko-ji temple is that it shares its grounds with a Shinto shrine, Tenjin Shrine. This coexistence of a Buddhist temple and a Shinto shrine within the same premises is quite rare, making it a sacred spa...

"i loved everything in this Buddhist sanctuary. its not only 14th Century Temple with all traditional items go along with it: Solemn and Mysterious Solemn Main Hall, Statues and holy items but absolutely remarkable Pagoda - hidden above in forest hills from where you can see Pacific Ocean
and enjoy the moment of mind calmness and relaxation."

"Beautiful old Buddhist temple not far from Enoshima station. The view from the top is absolutely stunning - one side you can see the sparkling ocean, the other side the city. On a clear day you can also get a great view of Fuji-san. There are different levels you can walk up to see the temple, pagoda, cemetery and large gold Buddha. Definitely worth a visit if you like temples and shrines."

Ashli S

"Absolutely beautiful Nichiren temple with a pagoda and a statue of the Buddha donated from India. Buddhist monk and order founder Nichiren was to be put to death by the Kamakura shogunate when lightning saved him, and one of his disciples later build a temple on the spot in 1337. They do a fantastic bamboo lantern lightup the first weekend of August with over 5000 bamboo lanterns. It is conveniently located next to the bus stop and only a short walk from the monorail and Enoden Station."
