"A small art museum. It’s not crowded. Very compact, but I think it’s wonderful. The admission fee is also cheap at just 300 yen."

"We were not allowed to take any photos."

"Admission was 300 yen.
There is a painting wing and a crafts wing.
I found the crafts wing more interesting.
Personally, I was able to see the rare New Guinea indigenous masks and statues, and was overwhelmed by the number and unique expressions on them.
I was amazed by the beauty and intricacy of the designs on the Satsuma ware, which had once been exported overseas and then housed in the museum. It was also nice to be able to compare the luxury of Satsuma ware used daily by ordinary people with that of other wares.
Chin Jukan's works were impressive, with their intricate design, despite being pottery. (I'm ashamed to say that this is where I first learned about Chin Jukan.)
You can also see calligraphy by Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi.

Although it's located a little far from Ibusuki Station, at an elevation slightly higher than the coast, I'm glad I went.
Thank you very much."
