Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Konodai Castle Ruins for its scenic beauty, particularly during cherry blossom season, and its historical significance as a former strategic stronghold. The park offers a relaxing atmosphere with amenities like a teahouse. Some reviewers note that clearer historical interpretation and signage could enhance the visitor experience.

"Great view and highly recommend."

"Good place for enjoying with family and friends"

Dr. S.M. Mahmudul Hasan

"Konodai Castle was built by Ota Dokan's younger brother, Ota Suketada.

Because it was a strategic location where the Edogawa and Sakagawa rivers meet, it was the site of repeated battles for control during the Sengoku period, including the Battle of Konodai, fought between Boso generals led by the Hojo and Satomi clans. Ultimately, the Hojo clan came to control the area.

After Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Siege of Odawara, Tokugawa Ieyasu, who took over from the Hojo clan and took over Edo, abandoned Konodai Castle because it overlooked Edo.

The castle ruins are now Satomi Park, but earthworks and dry moats can be seen throughout the area.

It would be nice to have a map that overlays a reconstruction of Konodai Castle with the current park, but I couldn't find anything like that."
