Reviews Summary

Visitors find Kawasaki Daishi Nakamise Dori to be a charming, less crowded alternative to more famous shopping streets, offering authentic snacks and unique Daruma dolls. While some note higher prices for souvenirs compared to other locations, the relaxed atmosphere and delicious treats make it a worthwhile stop, especially when combined with a visit to the adjacent temple. Reddit

"This is the second Nakamisa Shopping Street I've ever visited. The first one was in Asakusa. This one is not as big as Asakusa's. But they sell totally different thing. So it is not redundant to also visit this place. Additionally, this place is not too crowded, really comfortable to stroll around and enjoying some authentic snacks. Several snacks I recommend such as the "Penis" candy (sorry I don't know the real name of the candy), kuzumochi, and the bun with red bean paste. They are not expensive and very worth to try. For souvenir, I think you can buy some Darumon doll.
Pro tip: come early to this place as they are closing like at 4 or 5pm. Also, don't miss the Kawasaki Daishi, a Buddhist temple located at the end of this street."

"A day in Kawasaki city in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan!

Let’s go to the local shopping street, at #daishinakamise . I tried a few snacks right here,
🌟 @otanido_kameido 🍡Uji Matcha and Black Sesame #warabimochi . A good soft jelly-like texture finished off with aromatic powders of Uji Matcha and Black Sesame respectively. For the hot, stretchy, sweet hojicha #kamaagewarabimochi was topped with aromatic Kinako (soya bean) powder, plus a scoop of ice cream! Do check it out!

🌟A fluffy meat bun and a sweet green tea bun with red bean fillings. Do try them.

🌟At Sumiyoshi I had the #kuzumochi , a firmer type of mochi made from fermented wheat flour. All dressed in brown sugar syrup and aromatic Kinako powder. I love it! At the side were Green Tea and Red Bean Kanoko, which were quite sweet.

🌟I got to know, where there’s a temple, there’s a #shoutengai (shopping street) .

After all the yummy treats, I reached #HeikenjiTemple which was founded in 1128. 🏯

#higashimonzen station leads you to #daishinakamise street.
