"Located in the countryside, Kagoshima shrine can be reached by foot (20 min from the train station) or by car. It might not seem very convenient, but I think that's totally worth your walking time : the main torii gate, huge, will be waiting for you on the middle of the road and will probably leave you speechless :)
As for the rest, well, this shrine is very promising and you should definitely go there if you can ! The entrance is located in town, but the city will slowly fade away as you enter Kagoshima shrine. There, you will be surrounded by huge trees, ancient stones, ponds and silence. If you take youre time, enjoy nature and want to see every single area, I think you can easily stay for at least one hour. I didn't expect that at all when I first came here, and this shrine is still one of my favourite !
If you can, you should go there at the end of February, since an old traditional matsuri (the hatsu uma) is celebrated there."
