This shrine is located along the busy National Route 36. Behind the shrine is a golf course, giving it a location that's typical of the Sapporo suburbs. Perhaps due to the site's size, the approach from the torii gate to the main shrine is short, giving it the layout of an urban shrine.
There is also a parking lot on the premises. It doesn't have much parking, but it's a blessing.
Sapporo Hachimangu's plaque is a slightly aged, horizontal type with a nice character. There are three Hontsubo bells. I guess they get a lot of visitors.
After praying, I received a goshuin (temple seal) at the shrine office inside the main shrine. There are gorgeous paper-cut versions and standard versions, and both seem to be available for pre-written writing. The paper-cut version was lovely, but it didn't fit in my goshuin book, so I got the standard one.
This goshuin features Tenmangu-no-Okami and the Hina dolls of the third month of the Yayoi era, and is very colorful. The Sapporo Hachimangu Shrine font is also tastefully written. The initial offering was 500 yen, so I made an offering.
・This Hachiman Shrine seems to belong to the Shinto Daikyo sect of Shinto. Because it is a place where teachings are given, people tend to have a strange image of it compared to ordinary shrines. I actually feel a little like that too. I think it's probably because people feel a sense of resistance or fear at being taught more than they need, but seeing how well-liked this Hachiman Shrine is by the local people, I felt that it wasn't a place that prioritized teachings."
