Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Koganei Park Cycling Center for its excellent facilities for children learning to ride bikes, with affordable rentals and dedicated courses. The park setting is also a significant draw. Some users note that the more advanced courses can be challenging and caution about slippery conditions due to fallen leaves.

"A cycling path within Koganei Park.
The beginner's course around the children's playground is flat and has good visibility, making it perfect for children to practice cycling.
Once they've become more accustomed to cycling, they can try the regular course.
However, there are intersections with regular sidewalks and there are quite a few slopes, so many children (including preschoolers) get stuck. There are also lots of fallen leaves, so there's a risk of slipping, so be especially careful after it rains."

"This is the cycling center inside Koganei Park.
We've used it several times to help our children learn to ride bicycles. Since they were used to riding kick bikes, I thought they'd be able to ride without training wheels right away, but that wasn't the case. They're currently practicing with training wheels.

The surface is mostly flat and there are no other people around, making it ideal for practice. Even if you're already familiar with kick bikes, it's a good idea to use it to check your riding style.

■Rental Options
With training wheels: 12-18 inches
Without training wheels: 12-27 inches

■Price
With training wheels: ¥100 per hour
Without training wheels: ¥210 per hour (same price for adults and children)

■Courses
・1st (Beginner): A lap of less than 100 meters. There's shade, so it's relatively well-protected from direct sunlight, even in the summer.

・2nd: The outer perimeter of the children's playground. It's flat, but it seems like a lot of fun for first-time children.

・3rd: A course that runs through the children's playground and the wooded area to the north. This is a fairly steep course that utilizes the slope of the park, and even adults may find it difficult. We recommend starting once children are able to firmly grip the brakes. (As of August 6, 2020, this course is no longer in use.)"

"A place where you can rent bicycles.
To rent, write your name, address, and phone number on an application form, purchase a rental ticket from the vending machine, hand it over to the staff, and choose a bike. The fee is 210 yen per hour without training wheels, and 100 yen per hour with training wheels. If you bring your own bike, it's free.

Children's bikes start from 12-inch with training wheels.
Larger bikes go up to 27 inches.
There are also pedal-less children's bikes.
There are three dedicated courses: for toddlers, beginners, and regular bikes.
You can also ride freely within the park outside the courses.
Bicycles are from major domestic manufacturers."

This course features more varied terrain, including slopes, which adds an element of challenge. Reddit

When it comes to rentals, the center provides a comprehensive selection. You can rent bikes with training wheels in sizes 12-18 inches for ¥100 per hour. For those riding without training wheels, bikes range from 12 to 27 inches and cost ¥210 per hour. This includes options for both children and adults. Pedal-less bikes are also available for the youngest learners. Reddit

If you choose to bring your own bicycle, you can use the designated courses free of charge. This is a great option for avid cyclists who want to enjoy the park's cycling facilities without the rental cost. Remember to be aware of your surroundings, especially at intersections with pedestrian paths and during wet conditions due to fallen leaves. Reddit
