Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the unique, immersive, and visually stunning experience at teamLab Planets, often describing it as a 'healing' or 'otherworldly' adventure. The interactive digital art and sensory engagement are consistently praised. However, some find it can be overly crowded, diminishing the immersive quality, and a few feel the experience is brief for the cost.

"This was a really cool experience and definitely have never been through anything like this before. I would say you need at least 2 hours in order to enjoy this.

I would highly recommend booking at least one week in advance if you want a good slot. We went at 6pm on a Monday and the crowd levels were tolerable.

Also, don't worry about the initial line you have to stand in, it goes by quick."

"I have been to a few interactive art museums before, but none this elaborate. Sure some of the exhibits felt a little dirty and the water was pumped full of chlorine, but the visual effects in all of the rooms were astounding. It was like a maze of literal amazement. The check in line was a little bit long, but luckily there was shade which made it bearable to wait. Overall I would definitely go back here and be sure to bring a camera to take a ton of pictures."

Anthony Giang

"Go first this in the morning!

Crowds were little to none Friday 9am. Amazing exhibits. Very refreshing after a hot day outside. Prepare to get your feet wet. They have lockers and provide you with towels for wiping your feet.

Bring snacks. They offer food on site but very $$$."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Immersive Art Experience

teamLab Planets is not a traditional museum; it's a 'body immersive' art experience where visitors become part of the artwork. You'll walk through water, interact with digital projections, and engage your senses in unique ways. The goal is to create a profound connection between the visitor and the art. Instagram

Each exhibit is designed to evoke a different feeling or sensation. From the mesmerizing lights of Crystal World to the calming flow of the water features, the installations aim to transport you to another realm. It's a multi-sensory journey that blurs the lines between reality and digital art. TikTok

Key takeaway: Prepare to be fully engaged. The experience is designed to be felt, not just seen. Embrace the interactive nature of the exhibits and let yourself be immersed. Instagram

Navigating the Water Exhibits

A significant part of the teamLab Planets experience involves walking through water. Some areas feature knee-deep water, particularly the famous 'Koi and Pond' exhibit where digital koi fish swim around your legs. TikTokReddit

To make the most of these areas, it's highly recommended to wear clothing that can be easily rolled up, such as shorts or skirts. This allows you to comfortably wade through the water without getting your clothes soaked. Lockers are available to store belongings. TikTok

For those who prefer to avoid the water, there might be alternative routes or ways to observe the exhibits without direct contact, though this is less common. It's best to check with staff upon arrival if you have specific concerns. Reddit

Photography and Social Media

teamLab Planets is a photographer's dream, with many exhibits designed to be visually stunning and shareable on social media. The Crystal World, with its infinite reflections, and the Floating Flower Garden are particularly popular for capturing breathtaking shots. TikTokInstagram

Many visitors aim to get that perfect Instagram-worthy photo. The key is to be creative with your angles and embrace the unique lighting. Don't be afraid to experiment with different poses and perspectives. TikTok

While the exhibits are beautiful, remember that the experience is also about immersion. Try to balance capturing memories with truly experiencing the art. Some Redditors suggest that the experience can be less magical when overly crowded, so consider visiting during off-peak hours if possible. Reddit
