What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Akagi Onsen is lauded for its magnificent energy, warm hospitality, and exceptional onsen and cuisine. While some find its antique-filled rooms 'dusty,' most appreciate the museum-like charm and historical ambiance. It's a unique, secluded retreat that leaves a lasting impression.
"The fact that some reviews said this place was dirty or “dusty” is quite ridiculous. The inn keeper has collected many antiques throughout his travels and they are beautifully displayed throughout the ryokan. It’s like a museum! So maybe it’s possible that there is a little bit more dust just due to the fact that there are more items displayed, but in no way was anything dirty. The energy of this place is magnificent and I can’t wait to return. The hospitality of the elderly couple was warm, welcoming and very kind. The dinner and breakfast was delicious and the onsen was the best. You can only use this source onsen at this ryokan. I will be back very soon. どうもありがとうございます!"

Open bath is nicely designed though old~ overall this place is aging very well.

"Amazing and nestled away in the hills. There are no shops nearby so this place is recommended for those who prefer a quiet experience. The hotel owner is very kind and the food and baths are amazing. It's an old place and you can feel the history inside. I was surprised about some negative reviews because it's one of the best hotels I have been to. The staff were very kind to my young daughter as well."
