"Dam Tour: Gunma - Fujiwara Dam. (202403F)
A gravity concrete dam 95 meters high and 230 meters long. It was built on the Tone River, a Tone River system, for the purposes of flood control, river maintenance, and power generation. This dam operates pumped storage hydroelectric power generation together with Tambara Dam. Tambara Dam is the upper dam and Fujiwara Dam is the downstream dam, with a head of 518 meters. The pumped storage length of 559 meters is said to be one of the largest in the world. When I visited in early March, snow was falling lightly from the morning. The surrounding area was covered in just the right amount of snow, making the dam stand out. Dam cards can be obtained at the management office, but the ticket machine is worth a visit. It is a device that shows the love of the dam builder, so I recommend you try it for yourself.

"It was drizzling and looked like it might turn to snow if the temperature dropped a bit more, so there was no one around.
The distribution of dam cards is quite elaborate and interesting, but unfortunately the weather was bad today, so after taking a photo and receiving my dam card I quickly moved on.
As with other dams, there are many bear warning signs around the dam, but this one has seen many sightings and is not very popular, so it was really scary.
I had just seen the news about a bear barricaded itself in a supermarket in Akita.
Scary, really scary."

This dam is apparently one of the oldest in the Tone River system.
During its construction, 159 houses from the former Fujiwara settlement were submerged at the bottom of the lake.
It was a rather modest dam compared to the three water dams.
I'd like to return during the spring inspection and release."
