What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Hakkaisan Ropeway for its stunning views, especially the 'sea of clouds' in autumn and the vibrant fall foliage. The well-maintained hiking trails offer a rewarding challenge for the adventurous. Some find the ticket price a bit high for just the view, but combining it with the hike makes it worthwhile. The facilities at various stations are appreciated, though the hike itself requires preparation.
"It made for a wonderful day trip. I’m not sure paying ¥2800 is worth it simply to get the view at the top. However, if you match it with the trail, which is very nicely maintained, that leads to Hakka-San, well worth it. I was impressed with the wood padding that had been put down on the ground to help at the beginning elements of the trail as well as the very carefully and securely tied in ladders and ropes throughout that provided for a smoother climb. As others noted this is not a beginner hike. Please wear proper footwear. Bring plenty of beverage and snack. Additionally, on the way there there is a mountain hut if you wanted to camp there. There is a bathroom which you can pedal a bicycle to churn the poop and pee. Please bring change if you hope to use this so you can leave a donation to properly think the people that maintain it."
