What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the Sky Promenade to be a worthwhile stop for its impressive 360-degree views of Nagoya, especially the captivating night scenery. The affordable entry fee and convenient location near Nagoya Station are frequently praised. However, some note that the experience can be brief and the semi-open-air nature means it can be windy, potentially impacting comfort and views in adverse weather.
"My husband and I couldn't catch a break with the weather when we planned our obligatory visit to this observation deck. At 800 feet, it's the tallest open-air observatory in Japan if that excites you. It didn't really do it for us because the walkways and railings were wet from the torrential downpour. The observation deck is up on the 46th floor of Nagoya's tallest skyscraper, Midland Square, and honestly, the elevator ride was the most satisfying part of the experience.
Once up there, we walked around the perimeter taking in as much of the panoramic view as possible. But like Joni Mitchell says, clouds got in our way. It's cloud illusions that I recall. There was a nice albeit distant view of Nagoya Castle, a spot we didn't have time to visit during our quickie Nagoya stop There were no other enticements offered with the ¥1,000 admission fee. We had no interest in the BBQ beer garden on the 44th floor, and all the viewpoint sofas were taken. Time to go back down."

"Very interesting space. The night view of Nagoya is really beautiful. It’s a “semi outdoor” space and there’s a BBQ restaurant and some common areas for people to chill and rest. It was a great experience. Very windy though."

"Midland Square is just a walk away from Nagoya Station, and there is an express elevator all the way to the Sky Promenade.
1000 yen for the entrance fee, the view is kinda nice. I wish I stayed a little later to see the night lights but there really wasnt much to do except look at the view. There is a drink bar with few choices. No gift shop when I came. All in all takes less than 10 minutes to walk around the area, even faster if you are not taking photos.
Good stop if you enjoy high rise observatories, otherwise you are not missing much."
