What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Narita Airport Terminal 1 Observation Deck for its free access and excellent, unobstructed views of aircraft. The dedicated camera cutouts are a highlight for photographers, and the nearby food and shopping options add convenience. Some note minor obstructions from buildings, but overall, it's considered a great spot for plane enthusiasts and travelers with time to spare.

"In many airports, the only way to see aircraft on the runway/apron is to go through security. Narita's observation deck is fully accessible without a ticket, and is connected to a sizable shopping floor with many options for food and drink. Great view from up here."

Thomas A

"Good and large observation deck. You can see planes taking off and landing not far in front of you, but some building structures obstruct the view of the entire approach and landing or takeoff. There is a tight grid fence around the area so it is difficult to get a clear picture with your camera, but they have a few cutouts in the fence to allow your camera to fit even if it has a large lens. There is some seating. If you go up the escalators from the north wing, and come across a sign that shows the observation deck closed in the far north area, you are in the wrong spot. Look on maps for the actual location on the 5th floor by the food court."

Cory Sakai

"Great view of planes landing and taking off! There are benches and small fence openings, allowing the use of telephoto camera lens.

There is a nice sushi restaurant (Kaisen Misakiko) near the observation deck. If you still craving for sushi before departure, this restaurant offer conveyor belt sushi. The sushi was not bad for the location."
