What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Kema Sakuranomiya Park, especially during cherry blossom season, calling it a breathtaking spectacle and a must-visit for its stunning riverside blooms. While some find it crowded during peak times, the sheer beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a highly recommended spot for a relaxing stroll or a memorable picnic.
"Kema Sakuranomiya Park (毛馬桜之宮公園 – Osaka, Japan)
Kema Sakuranomiya Park is one of Osaka’s most underrated yet stunning riverside parks, especially famous during cherry blossom season. Stretching along the Okawa River between Temmabashi and Sakuranomiya stations, this linear park offers over 4 kilometers of walking paths lined with approximately 5,000 cherry trees, making it one of the best hanami (flower viewing) spots in the city.
In spring, the entire riverside transforms into a tunnel of soft pink blossoms. The petals often fall gently into the river, creating a romantic, postcard-perfect scene. Unlike the busier Osaka Castle Park or Kema Sakuranomiya’s neighbor, Nakanoshima, this park has a more relaxed, local vibe, ideal for quiet strolls, picnics, or photography.
Even outside of sakura season, the park remains a peaceful getaway with wide open lawns, scenic bridges, and historic buildings like the Japan Mint, which also opens its gates to the public during cherry blossom week.
Tip: Visit early in the morning during sakura season to avoid crowds and catch the soft light. Bring a picnic or enjoy a riverside coffee from a nearby café. Easily accessible by JR Sakuranomiya Station, Kema Sakuranomiya Park is a perfect mix of nature, culture, and seasonal beauty — right in the heart of Osaka."

"A magnificent place to view cherry blossoms. The park was not packed unlike what I had heard from others. The park keeps going down the river with endless pink trees. It’s a super relaxing place, and there were many people doing picnics in the grass which seems like a nice idea. Especially on a day with good weather, Kema Sakuranomiya park is a must. 🏢🌸🌳"

"2025.4.5 花見
Secured a good spot around 8:00. Full blossom!
There’s a nearby Lawson to buy food but there are also food stalls which opens by 10:00.
Small park CR.
Depending on your tarp location, there are beautiful Cherry blossom trees!
Many people starts to arrive as noon comes close.
Many activities are done by friends and families under the blanket of Sakura. In my case, I took photos!
Truly the spirit of Flower viewing.
Today’s also a bit of a windy day so we see some flower showers 🥰
Recommended place for 花見.
(There’s a flock of tourists as well… might be because of the spring season and Osaka EXPO. But please follow the etiquette of flower viewing. Don’t pick the flowers from the trees! 😭)"
