What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the unique Abt-type train experience and the stunning, remote scenery along the Ikawa Line. The charming Ikawa Station and its photographic potential are also frequently highlighted. However, the long travel time and basic facilities at the terminus are noted drawbacks.
"The terminal station of the Oigawa Railway Ikawa Line (Southern Alps Abt Line). It takes 110 minutes one way from Senzu Station, but there are plenty of things to see along the way, from the scenery along the way to the steep slopes climbed by coupled Abt-type locomotives to Okuoikojo Station and passing under numerous iron bridges!"
BANDRIP
"The station platform curves rather than runs in a straight line, giving it the feel of an amusement park attraction. It's ideal for photography, as it's easy to capture the whole picture, and depending on the angle, you can enjoy a variety of shots.
There are well-constructed restrooms, and vending machines can be found down the stairs, but there have been reports of large bear sightings nearby, so it's important to be well-equipped and cautious."

"This station is the terminus of the Oigawa Railway's Abt-type Ikawa Line, and it truly feels like a remote station. We drove here on October 13, 2013, but it was a long drive. It's an unmanned station. When we went, an Abt-type train had just arrived, and many passengers were getting off, so the station was bustling. This was also a checkpoint for the Yurucamp Shizuoka Prefecture Stamp Rally, so we went there for that. Driving, it was hard to tell where the station was, but there was an Abt-type train parked there, so we assumed the station was up ahead and walked to the station. When we arrived, it was a small, cute wooden station with a small waiting room. I think the station was open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. From here, everyone walked to their destinations. We had business at Ikawa Station, so we didn't get to ride the Oigawa Railway's Abt-type Ikawa Line, but we'd love to take an Abt-type train there someday! The station, standing alone in the surrounding mountains, left a deep impression on us."
