"The castle ruin has little left to it but the park it is in is beautiful. There is a partial moat surrounding the bottom with large coy fish and carp. Also there is a playground that has a large slide. I often go here to relax and walk around."

"This castle was located in what is now Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture. The center of the castle ruins is now Kobe Park, and Kobe High School stands on the site of the Ninomaru (second bailey). At the site of the Honmaru (main citadel), there is a castle tower base made of rough-faced stone walls. It appears that a five-story, six-story castle tower was once built, with a smaller castle tower to the northeast and an attached tower to the southwest, making it a complex, connected castle tower. The castle tower was dismantled in 1595 and rebuilt as a three-story tower at Kuwana Castle, where it was called Kobe Tower.
Remains include well-preserved earthworks and moats, and the castle tower base's stone walls are the main attraction. There is also a park parking lot with space for around 10 cars and toilets. A stroll around the area takes about 30 minutes."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
History of Kanbe Castle
During the Edo period, Kanbe Castle served as the domain office for the Kobe domain. Despite changes in lords, the castle tower was never rebuilt. The relatively modest stone value of the domain (around 15,000 koku) likely contributed to the inability to fund a new castle tower. Today, only the main keep's stone base and a portion of the moat remain as testaments to its past.
Exploring the Park and Ruins
Surrounding the park is a well-preserved moat, a notable feature that adds to the historical ambiance. The water is often clear, and it's home to a variety of fish, including large koi and carp, which are a delight to observe from the red bridge. For families, the park offers a playground with a large slide, making it a fun and engaging spot for children to play while adults enjoy the historical and natural surroundings. A leisurely walk around the entire area can be completed in about 30 minutes.
