Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Takaoka Mikurumayama Museum for its stunning display of elaborate festival floats and the exceptional kindness of its staff. While the primary language is Japanese, the helpfulness of the museum personnel makes the experience accessible and enjoyable for all. The unique soft-serve ice cream is also a delightful bonus. Reddit

"A local gallery for displaying objects related to the Matsuri in the village which is a UNESCO world heritage. The staff were really kind, they really helped me on many things (e.g. buying tickets, some basic information on the place). The gallery was really beautiful with the chariots gathered in a hall with little light. One thing that was depressing is the fact that most of the information was in Japanese."

"This place is great, and the staff are friendly. The reproductions of traditional crafts and festival scenes were also great. There's a cafe attached, and the 10-layer soft serve ice cream was generous for 300 yen. It's just right for two people to share. It's fun to split it in half with chopsticks and eat it."

"The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering helpful advice. We had a lot of questions when we first entered the venue, but after watching the full video on the second floor, we realized it was all about traditional culture, preserved by the faith and strength of the locals. The details on the cars, along with the attendees' attire, were truly captivating. I hope to see them live in the future. 👀 There are actually some detailed details inside the venue, like how the cars are transported out the door on the second floor. Very thoughtful. Highly recommended!"
