What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning natural beauty of Omoshiroyama Gorge, with its powerful river, waterfalls, and dramatic rock formations. The autumn foliage is a major draw. However, many caution that the trail is extremely slippery and narrow, requiring careful navigation and sturdy footwear. The lack of cell service also adds a layer of risk for solo hikers.
"Super fun traverse along a strong, meandering river in a valley. As others mentioned it is very slippery in some parts. Even though it's not physically demanding in any way it still took me around 1h 10min to exit the valley, while the way back along an asphalt road took me around 25min. Slippery rock and mud, narrow pathways just above the water without branches to grab and some shallow river crossings over stones require you to be careful and take your time along the way. I'd highly recommend to bring your walking poles with you, especially when not having the best sense of balance.
At the same time the views are absolutely stunning and completely worth coming here. The strong current river, the multiple waterfalls, the beautiful forest and rock formations make for a great nature experience :)
Did not meet a single person along the way but it was quite wet when I went there."

"Beautiful but very slippery. Literally no one on a Monday and I couldn’t proceed because the path is covered in wet mud. Probably better to come after a few sunny days. It’s quite dangerous to trek alone as there’s no cell service."

"Beautiful but not for beginners. Since the path is very narrow and slippery it can be dangerous (you could fall in the river easily). It's not physically demanding.
We saw 1 other hiker and no dangerous animals."
