What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Yasugibushi Engeikan for its authentic and engaging cultural performances, particularly the lively Yasugi-bushi dances and skilled musicians. The interactive loach scooping session is a unique highlight that brings smiles to all ages. "The last time I visited, there was an event and no performances. Hoping to make it this time, I made a run for it. Arriving at 1:08 PM. There were only 12 minutes left, but a staff member, seeing my panic, quickly processed my entry. Inside, the interior was a traditional vaudeville theater. I sat on two cushions stacked on top of each other. The performance flowed smoothly for 30 minutes, from traditional Yasugi-bushi to folk songs, then traditional Yasugi-bushi again, Zeni Taiko drumming, and a demonstration of Yasugi-bushi. After that, there was a 10-minute session for the audience to experience it for themselves. Perhaps the vaudeville-style building lowered the barrier to participation, as children, parents, and young people all participated. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying themselves, modestly yet happily dancing. I wonder why everyone was so harmonious. I'm sure you don't want to be seen dancing poorly, but at the same time, I found myself thinking things like, perhaps the old-fashioned design of the building calms the mind and makes you lower your guard, or perhaps the performers' thoughtful attitude is good, or perhaps the people here are in the mood, but I can't imagine that people on a company trip would be in the mood right away. Nevertheless, I remained calm and enjoyed the performance.
The folk singer was good, the shamisen was great, holding two percussion instruments was tough, the Zeni Taiko was so fast it was hard to understand, and the Yasugibushi dancer was a master, even in the way he got the audience excited.
I don't think tours of the Adachi Museum of Art can come here, so I hope they keep it this way. Due to copyright issues with the dance, I won't post any photos of the dancers."

The hostess was so warm and lovely.
She gave me an explanation of the Yasugi folk song, and I felt like I got a glimpse of the local flavor.
At the end, all the audience members got to try their hand at catching loaches, which was a great memory for me."

"I stopped by after visiting the Adachi Museum of Art.
I had heard that tickets could be purchased at the reception 20 minutes before the performance, so I arrived with plenty of time to spare. Luckily, it was very empty, perhaps because the performance was on an unusual weekday.
The souvenir shop also had a pretty good selection of cute items, such as locally produced pear extract and loach-scavenging manju, so I had a lot of fun shopping.
The building is still new and impressive, and you can almost smell the wood. I was able to take my shoes off and sit on a soft cushion to relax and enjoy the show, which was very pleasant.
The host was a great speaker, the singing and playing were wonderful, and I also got to try my hand at catching loaches, so I was very satisfied."
