What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise the InterContinental Yokohama Grand for its stunning bay views, elegant architecture, and spacious, clean rooms. The hotel's prime location in Minato Mirai offers convenient access to attractions, and the spa is a highlight for many. However, some find the hotel's interior design a bit dated, and the surrounding area can be quiet in the evenings with early closing times for shops and restaurants.
"Very nice hotel, with excellent service. Good breakfast buffet. Rooms are nice and still feel modern. City view rooms offer an excellent panorama. Only disappointment was when I enquired if early check in was possible. They request a fee, which is not uncommon. What is however shocking, is that the fee is equivalent to an extra night charge. This is ridiculous. Arriving in the morning after a 13 h flight, I was hoping to be able to check earlier. Expect check-in at 15h00 sharp."

"We booked two rooms to be next to each other, so our teenage daughter would be next door. We booked using points. We arrived at 11am and had to wait until 3pm for the rooms to be ready. They gave us a king bed in the smallest room available with a substandard bathroom (pedestal sink, old table underneath for storage, old tub with short shower curtain). No robes. Room was hot at 3pm due to sun and it had yet to really cool well (8pm) and has high humidity. Our daughter’s room with two beds is spacious, has a walk in shower, nice tub with pillow, marble sink countertop, two robes, has nicer cooling system and no humidity. I don’t understand why it’s so different. Beds are smaller so that’s why we gave her that room. As others have said, the decor is dated and the woodwork is beaten up. It’s the most disappointing Intercontinental Hotel we’ve stayed at, except for Lisbon. We really had high hopes since it’s in a nice area. Great location though. Friendly and efficient staff."

"We stayed here to celebrate my birthday and New Year’s Eve. While the location and views are beautiful, our experience was initially disappointing because the room we received didn’t match the photos shown online. We had to contact the hotel and insist on a change, which honestly shouldn’t happen at this level of property.
That said, once the situation was addressed, the team did upgrade us to a corner suite — which we truly appreciated. The suite was lovely and comfortable, and we’re grateful to the staff for finally helping us make the most of our stay. Still, I hope the hotel makes a stronger effort in the future so guests don’t have to argue to get what was promised. We are coming back again on December 2025...hope this time is different."
