What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are captivated by the breathtaking, surreal beauty of Manshuk Mametova Lake, with its glacial waters and snow-capped peaks. Many appreciate the serene atmosphere, especially when visiting early. However, some travelers express frustration with the access system, including checkpoint fees and the challenging hike, feeling that organized tours can be overpriced.
"Ok, here is how it works, we went on a sunday by 'Yandex Go' paying 9500 kzt:
* When reaching the parking first you will pass through some control spot with some guys asking kind of 500 kzt per person in the car, inclusive the driver;
* Then you reach another control spot, the guys doens't let any anyone pass through, except some "especial" car. I imagine this point that there is 'tours cars' that maybe pay something extra to let them go(This explain why they ask you such expensive 70 euros in that 'getyourguide' tours);
* Then we just left the car and went by foot, we lost part of the ride on 'Yandex' because of this. There was a lot of people doing the same, prepare for the 2:30h medium/hard walking.
* Then you reach the lake so tired and doesn't have more energy to go further another trail. You will have to come back walking again but it will be more easy because is downing now;
* There in the entrace again you should negotiate with some driver because they will try to sell you a expensive run;
Conclusion: we were in a group of three, very greatfull for the amazing nature and different views, but we felt robbed by the local(working) people since the ride to go and back until the strange administration of the park, and again the feeling that the guides just ask you too much for this tour for the lake;
Extra mentions:
* At the end we spent 7500 kzt per person, much cheaper;
* When climbing we met several kazakistan people interacting with us, asking if we were good, other ones offered us pizza and sandwiches for free, and another oned just was so gentle filming us when we were flying our drone. That just warmed up our heart;"

"This breathtaking glacial reservoir, perched at an altitude of 2511 meters, greeted us with an empty landscape when we arrived early. It was like our own private playground. From the security checkpoints, we had the option of hiking or taking a ride with the park rangers (pre-arrangement required) or even hitchhiking.
Upon reaching the area, we were awestruck by its surreal beauty. Despite the onset of summer, snow was there on the mountain peaks, and the lake remained partially frozen, creating a breathtaking sight.
Our luck turned up when we spotted a family of beavers 🦫, happily bathing under the warm morning sun.
We spent an hour exploring the area, had some snacks and sipped on tea, it was a beautiful experience.
Note: It’s not allowed to go near the water, you can descend only upto a certain point."
