Reviews Summary

Visitors find Ol Njorowa Gorge a captivating subterranean world, praising its dramatic landscapes and geothermal wonders. However, some feel the experience is overpriced for the short duration, and aggressive vendors and baboons can detract from the visit. Hiring a Maasai guide is highly recommended for safety and insight, though opinions on value vary. Reddit

"This subterranean world is absolutely captivating. Its as if you are travelling back in time when the gushing water and subterranean stream carved this wonderful landscape. You can take a tour with the aid of Masai community people who take you on a guided tour if this underworld. You get to see hot water fountain, waterfalls, limestone caves and also shooting locations for tomb raider and Lion King."

shashank Shekhar

"On my visit 10 years ago, the walk was more dramatic and with fewer people. Since then, the route has changed (for safety reasons?), and there are now escape paths/steps in case of need. A guide is essential. There are over 40 guides who work here. It helps the local community if you get a guide at the gorge.
There are three possible distances: short, medium and long. Our small group paid KSh4,000 for a guide on the medium route plus a tip at the end.
The route is dramatic with opportunities for unusual photos."

David Pinney

"We paid 3000 shilling p.p. for the intermediate tour and cannot recommend it at all.

It is only a 20-30 minutes walk if you exclude the time we spent at the masai tourist shop inside.
There is a tiny waterfall and the view is nice. Some hot mineral water coming out of the ground which is interesting.
Overall I would say it is highly overpriced and would not recommend going there."
