What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Nam Xay Viewpoint is a must-visit in Vang Vieng, lauded for its absolutely breathtaking panoramic views that make the challenging hike worthwhile. Visitors rave about the iconic motorbike photo spot and the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit. However, the beauty is marred by litter, with many urging fellow travelers to pack out their trash.
"Wooow, this place is incredible! The hill is very steep, almost like climbing on rocks. But overall is doable. Make sure to wear shoes.
I highly don’t recommend doing this hike if it has rained the day before. The hike is pretty much mud and rocks. It can be VERY slippery if it’s wet. I did it when it was dry and it was challenging. I can’t even imagine doing this hike when the path is wet.
It you have a knee problem, not sure if I recommend doing this.
But the view when you get to the viewpoint is breathtaking. Definitely a must in Vang Vieng."

"Nam Xay viewpoint is a very challenging place to visit. But the results from the hiking/ climbing the steep hill is worth it. You can take nice photos and videos from the top of the hill. And for those that think they could climb the hill using high heels, dress, umbrella, with branded bags and full make up, please think twice before you go for it. It's not an elegant catwalk for this hiking. Use a comfortable shorts and t-shirts. Bring extra shorts and t-shirts just in case the one you are using gets dirty. Watch out for rainy days as the climbing and getting down might get sliipery. You need stamina for this climb. Overall it is fun! Do it if you can... You will not regret it! Highly recommended for those that can climb!"

"A great hike in Vang Vieng and probably the most popular in the area. I’d say this is a moderately difficult hike due to the amount of uneven flooring and parts where you need to practically pull yourself up. The views at the top are great, someone has carried a bike up there so it’s a great opportunity for a photo. Avoid peak times for queues, morning is always the best time."
