What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often describe Klaipeda Old Town as a charming and unexpectedly lively place, worth a visit for its colorful, German-influenced architecture and accessible layout. While not as grand as some European capitals, its unique history and pleasant atmosphere make it a delightful exploration, especially with a good guide.
"Much of the town was destroyed during WWII. There are still some buildings that remain and the town is very accessible. A competent guide can explain the ongoing transition between the war and now."
Bruce Wessel
"Found this tour when we got off the ship in Kalapeda Lithuania. Google maps directed us to a certain spot. There was a man talking about Lithuania with a bunch of people. A woman said she spent $45 each for her and her husband. When we asked about the free walking tour to the guide he said he knew where it was but wouldn’t tell us. I believe he was the free tour was charging people."
Marianne Hubbell
"We arrived on a cruise boat. Klaipeda free walk tours did a great job. I enjoyed it so much, that I hired Martynas for a paid day tour to the soviet era missile silos about an hour out of town. Lithuania is a lovely, quiet country. The oldtown is not as awe inspiring as Brugge or Prague, but worth a walking visit with Klaipeda free walk tours."
