What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Gediminas Tower for its breathtaking panoramic views of Vilnius, making it a must-visit landmark. The historical significance and the small museum add educational value, though some find the entry fee a bit steep for the size of the exhibits. The funicular offers a convenient ascent, but many enjoy the walk up the hill.
"The views from the top of the tower and the castle walls are gorgeous. Definitely worth the 2 euros for the one way funicular ride. The tower itself has a small museum inside. The 8 euros for entry are more for the unobstructed city views at the top of the tower from the than the exhibits. But they are instructive and geared towards families. In summary, it's best way to either start or finish your day in Vilnius."

"A historically significant site in Vilnius, this hilltop landmark is visible from much of the city center. Reaching the top takes about 10 minutes on foot, including some stairs, or you can take a funicular (€2 one way, €3 return) at the time I went
The summit offers stunning, refreshing views of Vilnius. Entry to the castle tower costs €8 and includes exhibits on local history, including “The Baltic Way.” Climbing the tower gives you a full 360° panorama, perfect for sunsets. A must‑visit for both the scenery and the history.
You don’t have to go in to enjoy it so I definitely recommend"

"Gediminas Tower was named after Grand Duke Gediminas, who had established wooden fortifications on the hill in the 14th century. It was destroyed by fire and a brick castle was built in the 15th century. Gediminas Tower is the only part of the Castle that is left as of now. It's a small, but prominent structure, visible from Vilnius old city.
The Gediminas hill is a very popular tourist attraction. It can be reached on foot or taking the Funicular ride, which costs 2 Euro one way or 3 Euro both ways. The entrance fee to the Tower is 8 Euro. It's a bit difficult to climb the small spiral wooden steps. But once reaching the top one can have a wonderful view of the entire Vilnius city."
