What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kasturi Walk is a vibrant street market praised for its wide array of affordable souvenirs and delicious local street food. Visitors enjoy the lively atmosphere and the opportunity to practice bargaining. However, some find the crowds overwhelming at peak times, and the sheer volume of stalls can be a bit chaotic.
"Kasturi Walk in Kuala Lumpur is a vibrant open-air flea market located beside Central Market on Jalan Hang Kasturi. It offers a colourful mix of local culture, handicrafts, souvenirs, and street food under a distinctive covered walkway that keeps it comfortable even during rain or heat. The market has a lively Malaysian atmosphere with occasional live performances and street musicians adding to the charm.
You’ll find stalls selling handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs at reasonable prices along with street food like satay, rojak, and fresh juices. While some items are tourist-oriented, haggling can get you good deals. The evening is the best time to visit as the lights and cooler weather make it more enjoyable.
Cash is recommended as most vendors don’t accept cards. Pairing your visit with the adjacent Central Market makes the experience even better. Kasturi Walk is a fun stop for light shopping, snacks, and soaking in local vibes. Even though it can feel touristy at times, the energy and cultural touch make it worth a short visit."

"Kasturi Walk is a lively, open-air street market located right next to Central Market in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It’s a shorter stretch compared to places like Petaling Street, but still offers a fun and convenient spot to browse local street food, souvenirs, and affordable fashion.
The walk is covered by a high, modern canopy structure, providing some shade from the sun and occasional rain — a welcome feature in KL’s tropical weather. Stalls line both sides of the walkway, selling everything from bags, T-shirts, and sunglasses to snacks like roasted chestnuts, coconut shakes, grilled meats, and traditional Malaysian sweets.
One of the highlights of Kasturi Walk is its casual, laid-back vibe. You can stroll through without feeling too pressured to buy anything, and most vendors are friendly without being overly pushy. It’s a good spot for tourists to pick up inexpensive souvenirs like keychains, fridge magnets, or locally made trinkets.
While the offerings aren’t always unique — and some stalls do carry mass-produced or generic items — the location right next to Central Market makes it a convenient extension of your visit. If you’re already in the area, it’s worth spending an extra 20–30 minutes exploring the walk, grabbing a cold drink, or snacking on something local.

⭐ Overall Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Pros:
• Conveniently located next to Central Market
• Covered walkway protects from sun/rain
• Good for cheap souvenirs and street snacks
• Relaxed, tourist-friendly vibe
Cons:
• Some stalls carry repetitive or generic items
• Smaller and less diverse than other KL markets
• Gets crowded during weekends and holidays"

"It is a smallish stretch of outdoor stalls with some shelter and near central market . Stalls are prettily set up but I did not find the offering of too much interest for myself but there are nibbles for those who are feeling peckish. I rate to recognise the pleasant set up and tastes of whether what is sold is attractive is subjective . To be done with a visit to the central market - an easy stroll around to while away an hour"

The goal is a mutually agreeable price that leaves both you and the vendor satisfied. Remember to keep your purchases consolidated if you plan to bargain for multiple items from the same vendor, as this can sometimes lead to better overall deals.
