Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise Bukit Larut for its challenging yet rewarding hiking experience and the stunning panoramic views from the summit. The natural beauty and the historical colonial architecture are also highlights. However, the unreliability of the jeep service and the steepness of the hike are common drawbacks, with some experiencing discomfort from the jeep ride itself.
"Wonderful experience. Total 14 kilometres to the peak. 3rd time here and 1st time hiking straight 10 kilometres. Took around 3 hours to reach up there. Used the road track. Also have jungle trail, mostly used by hikers who regularly come here. The road pathway was challenging as it keeps elevate.
Based on my hike, there's a hut for every kilometre/checkpoint. Can have rest and continue the hike. Gets cold as you go up. Keep hearing the nature's music while hiking. The smell of the greens will keep you motivated. The jeep and homestay service are temporary closed. From what the locals say, they will operating back by this year. Good news. People you pass by were very friendly. Everyone greets you. Up there can witness the beauty of English and Malay architecture. There's also a big Hindu temple. Thank you Taiping municipal for taking care this place very neatly and maintaining the natural habitat over here."

"This is a doable hike with some preparation. We were not disappointed. It took us about 2 hours to the waterfalls (7km) on tarmac with stops at all the huts. It was a clear day and we could see the Straits of Malacca. We chatted with the regular friendly hikers who offered us tea at huts 2 & 3. Bring enough water and if you like, a small snack. Back to foothill in just over 3 hours. We parked along the road side as the carpark was full."

"Sadly the jeep ( Land Rover) was not in service as the road was being repaired due to landslide. So you could only walk/hike up the hill. We asked the locals, they said it need 3-4 hours to reached the summit. So do wear proper foot wear, walking sticks (if necessary) and towels as the tar road was steep and winding.
For 1st timer, you are advised not to take the hiking trails, it was very challenging with steep and trecherous terrain, over tree roots, big rocks, small wooden bridge. We tried it and ended up U turn after 15-20minutes. and we were drenched in sweats.
Hope can take the jeep on my next visit."
